Mom Accidentally Burns Elf on the Shelf in Oven

Publish date: 2024-06-07

You will never find any of Brittany Mease’s Elf on the Shelf setups on Pinterest. The Texas mom loathes the Christmas tradition so much that she pretended her family’s elf, Elfis, had broken his leg and couldn’t move for 14 days.

For those wondering “What on earth is Elf on the Shelf?” the idea is that Santa’s little scout watches children in their homes during the day and then returns to the North Pole at night to report on whether they were naughty or nice. In the morning, he assumes a new position in the house, which is where the parents come into play.

“Ya’ll know I can’t stand doing Elf on the Shelf but I suck it up every year and do it to see those precious smiles on my beautiful children’s faces,” Mease began in a Monday, December 18, Facebook post.

Earlier this month, Mease’s kids noticed that Elfis (named after Elvis Presley) hadn’t changed his location in several days.

“When they weren’t looking, I grabbed him off the kitchen counter and quickly tossed him in the oven until I could move him later and not raise suspicion,” wrote Mease. That was the beginning of the end for poor Elfis. Later, Mease went to bake some pasta.

“I seriously forgot I put the freaking elf in the freaking oven,” Mease shared. “I preheated the oven and started cleaning the kitchen. About 4 minutes later I started to smell something REALLY funky and that’s when all hell broke loose.”

Mease’s son Gray wandered into the kitchen at the very moment Mease and her friend Brittany were using “kitchen utensils to get our burnt and melting elf” out of the oven.

“I would have that that with Gray being older he would have laughed at it but it was IIy that laughed and Gray that got his little heart broken,” Mease lamented in her post. “I seriously suck.” But she’s working on making it up to him.

“Sooo . . . guess what I’m doing today? I’m having to scramble and find the other elf we have and then I have to call Santa (in front of the kids) and ask him if he will please pick up Elfis tonight,” she wrote. “Ya know, since he is unable to make it to the North Pole tog et fixed because his head literally popped off from being too hot once we pulled him out of the oven and his feet completely melted off.”
