Kia Boys Deth: Stolen Car Crsh Injres Children on School Bus
Several people were injμred on Monday, May 1, 2023 after a careless driver in a stolen vehicle crἀshed into a school bus and ran from the scene, police said. Two people are seen hanging out the windows of a white Kia as it sweɼves then slἀms into a parked school bus.
The video has been blurred in the area where a passenger is being drἀgged across the street. Therese Nelson claims that she initially noticed the white Kia swerving south on 80th Street when she was dropping off her child at Morse Middle School.
Nelson said:
“I see them turn around in my mirror and the next thing I know, they hἰt the bus. The remainder of them took off while the passenger was on the ground.”
After hἰtting the bus, the Kia collἰded with a Milwaukee Public Schools vehicle, police said that the automobile was stolen.
A 15-year-old passenger was hurt seriously, possibly beyond recovery. On the bus, an 11-year-old boy sustained injurἰes, but he is anticipated to recover. Nelson continued:
“I feel for the person that did get hurt, but they messed around and found out. There has to be a line that’s drawn and maybe this will be a turnaround moment for that person.”
A parent Marcia Jenkins said:
“I’m actually happy my son wasn’t on the bus because he normally rides the school bus, So I don’t know. I guess God stopped us from getting him to the bus this morning.”
Parents claimed that irresponsible driving is a common occurrence in this area. Jenkins said:
“They just don’t care. It’s been plenty of times I’ve been dropping my son off and you see the swerving. You see kids just doing doughnuts or teenἀgers whoever is stealing these cars, One time there was a car that was all over the sidewalk. I called, No police showed up.”
Jenkins and Nelson concur that a significant contributing factor is the current uptick in auto thefts. Jenkins said, “Something has to change. Someway, somehow, something.” The Milwaukee Police Department stated that it is looking into the coIIision and for unidentified suspects. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact them, they say.
