Darren Waller was traded to the Giants with a history of hamstring issues the past two seasons with the Raiders and the veteran tight end successfully navigated his way through issues with that particular muscle in his short time with his new team.

Until now.

Waller did not make it out of Sunday’s 13-10 overtime loss to the Jets at MetLife Stadium, forced out early in the second quarter with a hamstring injury.

Given his history with this, expect Waller to miss his first action with the Giants.

Earlier this season, Waller did sustain an injury to his hamstring, but he was able to sit out practices and did not miss any games.

He said that previous hamstring issue was “up top, like my butt.”

This latest injury is “down where the tendon attaches to your knee.”

That does not sound promising.

Waller was listed as questionable coming into the game with a hamstring strain that he felt in last week’s 14-7 victory over the Commanders.

He said “I was in pain’’ in the early stages of the game against the Jets “but I felt like it was something I could deal with and play in the game.’’

Waller on the first offensive series of the second quarter caught his only pass of the day, a 4-yard grab, and was tackled to the turf by cornerback Sauce Gardner.

That was Waller’s last snap.

“I just wasn’t able to give any more after that,’’ he said.

Veteran CB Adoree’ Jackson committed a brutal 30-yard pass interference penalty on third down in overtime, running into Malik Taylor, a wide receiver elevated from the Jets’ practice squad, on a desperation pass by Zach Wilson.

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday and Jackson, in the final year of his contract, could be sent packing, meaning the penalty could be his last play with the Giants.

Tommy DeVito became the first Giants quarterback with a rushing touchdown in his NFL debut since at least 1950, according to ESPN.

Saquon Barkley’s 36 rushing attempts was a career high.

He ran it 35 times against the Texans last season.

Barkley gained 128 yards, his 17th 100-yard rushing game for the Giants.

They are 9-8 in those games.

The Giants finished with minus-9 net passing yards.

That is the fewest in franchise history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

They “passed’’ for minus-6 yards at Chicago on Jan. 2, 2022, which prompted a post-game rant from former head coach Joe Judge.

The 13 punts by Jamie Gillan was the most by the Giants in a game in nearly 26 years.

They punted 13 times in a 7-7 tie with Washington on Nov. 23, 1997.

With Evan Neal out again with a sprained ankle, Tyre Phillips made his second start at right tackle.

The Giants rushed for a season-high 203 yards but needed 52 rushing attempts to reach that total.
