Dog the Bounty Hunter Duane Chapman celebrates his first anniversary with Francie Frane today, but what happened to his five marriages before?

Duane Chapman has taken a break from reality TV since 2019, the same year Dog lost his wife of 13 years, Beth. He found solace in now-wife Francie Frane six months after Beth’s tragic passing as they both bonded on losing a partner.

The pair tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in 2021 and today (September 2) marks their first anniversary. Reality Titbit unpacks their relationship timeline as well as Dog the Bounty Hunter‘s previous five marriages.

Dog the Bounty Hunter has 12 children from six different relationships

Debbie White

Duane welcomed his first son, Christopher Hecht, with ex-girlfriend Debbie White in 1972, though she had concealed her pregnancy from him, writes The Mirror. She raised him until she took her life in 1978.

Christopher was subsequently adopted by Keith and Gloria Hecht, though the father and son reportedly reconnected when he turned 19 years old.

La Fonda Sue Darnell

Duane married La Fonda Sue in April 1972. Still, their marriage ended in 1977 after he was convicted of first-degree murder in 1976 in relation to the death of Jerry Oliver in Pampa, Texas.

The reality star was involved in the crime after his friend accidentally shot and killed 69-year-old Oliver during a disagreement over a drug exchange. Duane played no direct role but was waiting in the car while the event occurred, reports The Sun.

He was sentenced to five years, but served only 18 months and was released from parole in 1980, as per NY Post.

La Fonda Sue and Duane are parents to Duane Lee Chapman, II (born 1973) and Leland Blane Chapman (born 1976), both of whom have worked alongside their father on TV.

Ann Tegnell

The 69-year-old TV personality welcomed three children with his second wife Ann Tegnell: Zebadiah Chapman (January 1, 1980 – January 31, 1980), Wesley (born 1980), and James (born March 1982).

Duane and Ann tied the knot shortly after he was release from prison, though it was short-lived. They separated soon after Wesley’s birth, but reconciled, resulting in James’ birth.

Lyssa Rae Brittain

Duane met his third wife, Lyssa Rae, just days before they tied the knot in a Colorado mountains ceremony in 1982. The bounty hunter reportedly offered Lyssa $1000 to bear his child. They are parents to three children: Barbara, who passed in a car crash in 2006, Tucker, and Lyssa ‘Baby Lyssa’. The latter went on to star in the A&E series with her father.

Tawny Marie Chapman

Dog met ex-wife Tawny Marie when he arrested her for drug possession, The Things reports, which he is said to have mentioned in his 2007 memoir, You Can Run But You Can’t Hide. Hoping to set Tawny on a new path, he hired her as his secretary and subsequently became a couple.

They split after just two years of marriage and officially divorced in the early 2000s. They share no children.

Beth Barmore

2006 marked the year Duane married Alice Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Barmore. Viewers are most familiar with Beth since she appeared on all three of her husband’s shows. TV special Dog and Beth: Fight of Their Lives documented her battle with throat cancer, which she was diagnosed with in 2017. Beth passed away on June 26, 2019, in Honolulu.

The 51-year-old was survived by Dog and their three children: Bonnie (born 1998); Garry (born 2001); and Cecily (born 1993), Beth’s daughter from a previous relationship who Duane adopted. She also had a son, Dominic, who she fell pregnant with as a teen.

Moon Angell

In January 2020, Duane was seen proposing to Moon Angell months after the death of his beloved wife Beth. Previews of the Dr Oz Show showed the bounty hunter popping the question to Moon, who is the ex-girlfriend of his son and maid of honor of his wedding to Beth. Moon and Beth were close friends.

It was later confirmed that the proposal wasn’t legitimate and Duane never gave Moon a ring; he was simply “caught up in the moment” reports The Mirror.

Francie Frane

About six months after Beth’s devastating passing, Duane met his now-wife Francie when he reached out to her late husband for home improvements, unaware of his death.

Francie called Dog back and the pair bonded over their grief of losing a partner.

Their intimate wedding ceremony took place in Colorado Springs, though his daughters Cecily and Bonnie were reportedly uninvited to the wedding due to family drama.
