Crisis Core Reunion Seven Wonders of Nibelheim and safe code guide
In Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, there’s a small set of side quests once you arrive in Nibelheim referred to as the Seven Wonders of Nibelheim.
A little boy (with an orange interaction marker) in town will talk about the Seven Wonders of Nibelheim and ask you to investigate them for him. You should at least do the First Wonder, as it’s an easy-to-miss summon materia that you’ll want for your DMW.
Completing this side quest will also reward you with the achievement “Seven Wonders Expert.”
Note that you need to do the first five wonders completely before talking to Sephiroth in the basement of Shinra Manor. The game will warn you that this is a point of no return and to get your things in order first. The Sixth and Seventh Wonders are done after you talk to Sephiroth.
Below, we list out the puzzles behind the Seven Wonders of Nibelheim.
The First Wonder of Nibelheim
The first wonder is the red water, which is just in the water tower across from the boy. Climb up the tower to get the Phoenix materia (and add Phoenix to your DMW). Case closed. Go talk to the boy about your discovery once you pick it up.
The Second Wonder of Nibelheim
The Second Wonder is a painting in the inn and it’s a little bit finicky. You have to do the following:
The NPC will give you 2,000 Gil for your time, making this a worthwhile venture.
Despite other posts on the internet stating that you have to do this part before interacting with Sephiroth in the inn, we completed it after he was in the Shinra Manor, though we started it originally while he was in the inn.
In addition to this, after Zack initially notices that the girl is gone, do not interact with the painting again. Each time we interacted with the painting and went back downstairs, the NPC stayed behind the desk. It was only after we just went upstairs and came straight back down did he come out from behind the desk to progress this quest.
The Third Wonder of Nibelheim
The third wonder is a pack of special bomb enemies at the top of the mountain. You can run straight up there, or do this on your way back down from the Shinra reactor. Either way, you’ll see a bunch of kids talking about these weird bombs that apparently drop goods but only if you kill them before they explode.
Head up the mountain to encounter these special bombs and (as the kids said) defeat them before they blow up. If they do blow up, you can run around the area to re-encounter them.
To beat these enemies easily, we just spammed Blizzaga, which they were very weak to. If that’s not enough for you, make sure to target the ones growing bigger first. The bigger they are, the closer they are to blowing up, so the biggest ones should get your attention first.
Head back to the boy and show them the Gold Shard that the bombs dropped. He’ll give you a Safety Bit.
The Fourth Wonder of Nibelheim
The Fourth Wonder is a bit of a pain in the butt, but it involves looking through peepholes in the Shinra Manor to figure out the code to a safe. The safe code is random every time, so you’ll actually have to solve the puzzle yourself.
The digits for the safe correspond to the number of specific objects you can see in each room. We’ve labeled each room location below, and described what you need to be looking for:
After inputting the correct numbers to the safe, a Cactuar will pop out and scamper off. You’ll also get one Vital Slash.
The Fifth Wonder of Nibelheim
The Fifth Wonder is a familiar face (that we don’t even get to actually see) hiding out in a coffin in the basement of the Shinra Manor. If you don’t have access to the manor yet, progress in the story a tiny bit more to get Cloud to take you there.
Before the door with the quest marker (the one with Sephiroth behind it), there are two other doors in the basement, each with sets of coffins behind them.
Take out Sahagin enemies in the basement area to get Coffin Keys, which will allow you to open the coffins. Three of them will randomly have weak bug enemies inside, but one will have a sleeping man.
After completing this one, talk to the kid again for him to note that he needs to do more research about the Sixth Wonder. At this point it’s safe to continue on in the game’s story.
The Sixth Wonder of Nibelheim
The Sixth Wonder if Nibelheim is the wonder kid’s mom trapped in a house on fire. (Yes, that is very weird.) You’ll need to save her from the fire to complete this part of the side quest.
You can’t actually see inside the house as you navigate inside, so you’ll have to just feel it out, as the camera will still follow Zack, hinting you to where he is in the house.
To do this part, we made Zack go all the way right, up, left, down, and then right again, thus making him go up the stairs inside and to the window where the kid’s mom was. To go back down, you just do the reverse: go left, up, right, down, left.
He gives you an ATK Up++ materia as a thanks.
The Seventh Wonder of Nibelheim
The Seventh Wonder is another gift from the boy for saving his mom, but you can’t get it until quite a bit later. After the whole ordeal with Sephiroth and Cloud, you’ll be able to explore Nibelheim again in search of clothes for Cloud.
In the Nibelheim Outskirts, you can find this shining golden gift from the boy: a Wall materia.
Getting this materia will reward you with the achievement and mark the end of the side quest.
