Carmel High School Tiktok viral video uploaded last week is making rounds on the internet.

Carmel High School, a public high school located in Indiana, has become a trending topic after videos showcasing its extensive facilities and amenities were shared on TikTok, subsequently going viral.

The school’s DECA club offered a virtual campus tour, revealing that Carmel provides much more than the average public high school.

The tour of Carmel High School was divided into two TikTok videos showcasing various school areas.

The school has multiple gyms and cafeterias, which is unusual for schools in Indianapolis, as well as its natatorium, wrestling room, modern library, planetarium, cafe, radio room, T.V. studio, and a spacious auditorium.

In addition to the facilities mentioned earlier, the videos also gave viewers a glimpse into the school’s bookstore, wood shop, and auto shop.

There are multiple cooking rooms, symphony rooms, jewelry and e-sports rooms, and a dedicated fashion room, among many other facilities available at the school.

Notably, Carmel’s football stadium can accommodate up to 10,000 people.

A series of Tiktok videos sparked controversy

The school gained widespread attention in February 2023 when its campus tour videos accumulated over 7 million views and 1.3 million likes.

Carmel High School is one of the top high schools in Indiana and has a student count of around f 5,414 children.

However, the conspicuous level of privilege showcased in the videos sparked many comments, which have since been removed.

Many people on Twitter pointed out that the school is racist and prideful, with most of its white students.

One user, James Ray, commented on the issue of how public schools in the U.S. are funded, stating that Carmel’s hyper-wealthy community allowed the school to build a campus the size of a college.

In contrast, many Indianapolis schools struggle to update classrooms and textbooks.

Carmel High School really demonstrates the problem with how we fund U.S. public schools. Carmel, a hyper wealthy community, was able to put up a college-sized school while many other schools in Indiana struggle to even get updated textbooks and updated classrooms. https://t.co/O67nGjaRhI

The size of the school is not the only thing that makes it astounding, according to Ray. Instead, it represents the disparities between socioeconomic classes still prevalent in their society.

Some also highlighted that the school’s funding is mainly from its sports teams and wealthy, white parents, which they blamed for its abundance of resources absent in other high schools in Indiana.

One sarcastic commenter quipped that the school might as well be an entire city, given its extravagance and luxury.
